The Kassandra Peninsula

Kassandra is the first and flattest finger of the peninsula of Chalkidiki and, apart from tourism, is primarily used for agriculture. The coast of Kassandra consists mainly of sandy beaches, or a mixture of sand and gravel. There are also a few smaller cliffs in places, from which you can get a good view. To get to the finger, you have to cross a big bridge over the channel of Nea Potidea.

At some bays there are sea urchins, but you can see them immediately because of the crystal clear water. The biggest village of Chalkidiki is called Nea Moudania and is located at the beginning of the finger or peninsula. Otherwise, the villages of Afitos and Kalithea are very beautiful and offer entertainment with taverns and bars. The capital of the region, Thessaloniki, where the airport is located, is about 40 km away from Kassandra and can be easily reached by bus or cab after a one-hour drive.
